DavidFBradley@gmail.comBooks I'm reading:
Critical Thinking About Research: Psychology and Related Fields, by Julian Meltzoff. It's about psychology research and design.
Myst: The Book of Ti'Ana, by Rand Miller. A delightful piece of fantasy, the second of three books based on the Myst computer games, games which I loved.
A People's History of the United States, by Howard Zinn. A sometimes compelling, sometimes frustrating read. Recommended for any student of American history.
Books I've recently read:
The Price of Everything: A Parable of Prosperity and Probability, by Russ Roberts. An excellent piece of fiction chock-full of deep economics wisdom. He is the host of EconTalk (see below). (rated 9/10, finished 8/25, brief review here)
Podcasts I'm listening to:
Science and skepticism
The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe (weekly witty and intelligent podcast about science and pseudoscience)
The Skeptics Guide 5x5 (a 5-minute version of the aforementioned SGU, addressing one news story or topic per episode)
QuackCast (a sarcastic review of Supplements, Complementary and Alternative Medicines -- SCAMs)
Science Talk (by Scientific American)
Are We Alone? (a weekly radio show by SETI)
Ask the Naked Scientists (weekly science call-in program from the UK)
Astronomy Cast (weekly show about, well, astronomy)
The Conspiracy Skeptic (an occasional look at the big conspiracy theories, like the moon hoax; it's an alright podcast)
Ockham's Razor (weekly Australian podcast featuring a usually-fascinating 13-minute lecture on a wide variety of science-related topics)
Skeptech (a skeptical look at technology)
Skeptoid (a dry, but well-researched, 10-minute examination of one subject about which people should be skeptical)
Psychology
All in the Mind (weekly Australian radio program about psychology)
Neuropod (a decent monthly neuroscience podcast by Nature magazine)
The Psych Files (a good look at topics in psychology; a bit hit or miss, but it's mostly hits)
Psychcast (technical interviews with researchers about various brain science topics)
Shrink Rap Radio (it's a repository of psychology woo; I listen to it to expose myself to the irrationality infiltrating psychology, and who knows, maybe to learn something new)
Atheism
The Atheist Experience (weekly 90-minute local access call-in show hosted by atheists -- it's better than it sounds)
Pat Condell's Godless Comedy (audio versions of Pat Condell's funny, inflammatory atheist YouTube videos)
Point of Inquiry (podcast of the Center for Inquiry, featuring interviews about religion and secularism, pseudoscience and science, medicine and shams)
The Reason Driven Podcast (follows Bob Price's response to The Purpose Driven Life; the hosts invite Bob Price to summarize a chapter of his book, then invite a guest on to talk about the chapter)
Reasonable Doubts (atheist podcast featuring intellectual commentary on current events, Biblical criticism, and Christian counter-apologetics)
The Church of Freethought (monthly services from a rational, non-religious church)
Apologia (a cordial roundtable discussion between Christians and atheists about various topics)
Short story fiction or audio drama
The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd (great family-friendly old-timey radio drama, featuring time travel at first, and now the characters become trapped inside classic works of fiction)
Escape Pod (SciFi short stories)
Pseudopod (horror short stories)
Sculpting God (full cast productions of some short stories by Dan Sawyer, a contributor to the aforementioned Apologia)
Variant Frequencies (a genre-bending collection of dramatized short stories, somewhere between sci-fi, horror, and steampunk)

Decoder Ring Theatre (original detective, superhero, and space commander radio drama)
Current Events

Wait Wait . . . Don't Tell Me! (weekly comedy news quiz show from NPR)
The Exchange (a New Hampshire public radio call-in program)
Other
A Different Point of View (brief spoken essays debunking myths in the Star Wars propaganda movie series, as told by a Stormtrooper)
EconTalk (insightful and entertaining economics interviews)
Control Point (entertaining weekly podcast about Team Fortress 2, a computer game I own)
